Details

Join us on this beautiful 6.2-mile out-and-back trail near Knoxville, Maryland, with breathtaking views of the Potomac River. Weverton Heights to Ed Garvey Shelter via the Appalachian Trail takes you through a lovely forest with about 1200 ft of elevation at the beginning of the trail.

We'll move at a moderate pace (around 2.5 mph) and stop for a break halfway at the Ed Gravey Shelter, where we’ll find a well-maintained AT resting area. We recommend bringing enough water, snacks, and bug repellent. Since most of the trail is shaded, sunblock is optional.

The hike will take us about 3.5 hours including the break midway through. We will meet at Weverton Cliffs Parking to start the hike at 10 am.
