Signal Knob & Meneka Peak (12 miles, 2434 ft, very strenuous)

Details

RSVPs open Sept 21 at 10am

Join us for this hike that combines several peaks -- Signal Knob, Meneka Peak, and Buzzard Rock. We'll take in sweeping views of the Shenandoah Valley, hopefully peep some fall leaves, and enjoy a challenging hike. Meeting point is the Signal Knob Trailhead Parking Lot (GPS: 38.93414, -78.32026). Please use the GPS coordinates to reach the trailhead. We'll move at about a 2 mph pace with stops for water and lunch.

Because this is a strenuous hike, hikers are strongly encouraged to have prior experience with 10-mile hikes and elevation gain to participate. This hike can be a fun and challenging test of abilities, but only if we are safe about it along the way. This hike is rocky so please wear appropriate hiking shoes/boots and consider hiking poles. Bring lunch, snacks, and at least 2L of water.

If we have any energy left over after the hike we'll head to quirky Backroom Brewery to continue the LMH tradition of debating whether this place is charming or weird.

Route, except we’ll do this in reverse: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/morning-hike-to-signal-knob-loop-trail-meneka-peak-c4c455d

We hope to see you on the trail!
