"Ola Internet, K Ase?!" - Our 5th NY Latino Tech Meetup

Details
Dear LatinoTechies,
You are invited to our 5th NY Latino Tech Meetup, taking place on Thursday, August 1st.
Also due to fortunate circumstance we have the option to choose which presentation we'd like to have at this meetup.
As previously notified we have a poll available to let the group decide between:
"Ola Internet, K Ase?! - Where is the Internet going?", or
"How To Build A Mobile App: From Ideation to Launch"
Please vote at the poll (https://www.meetup.com/NY-Latino-Tech-Meetup/polls/872402/), if you haven't already.
Anyhow below are descriptions for our options.

The Internet today seems to be everywhere; in less than 20 years almost the entire human race has been radicalized by communications, data and connectivity.
Somehow a niche, highly technical, scientific hobby has grown in 4 decades to be the leading global industry and have ambassadors like Microsoft, Apple, Google and Facebook command trillion dollar economies and be pervasive enough to be in your home competing or completely replacing your television, radio, newspaper, books, magazines, photo albums, index cards, message boards, coloring books, etc...
Case in point, how many of you are reading this on your phone or tablet?
So wait, you mean to tell me that this technical revolution and interconnectivity has grown and scaled in 40 years? To be honest... No, this interconnectivity didn't really scale and surge in 40 years, to be more accurate this surge has occurred in the last 4 maybe 5 years. (¡Que locura!; melodice)
This technical catharsis is why I would like to take a few minutes of your time to discuss and potentially demonstrate where we've been, where we are and where we can go in this new digital landscape.
Moreover I will focus on the following topics as guideposts to our conversation:
Mobile Technology Is that a computer in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? BIG Data Wait, was Tom Hanks in that one? Privacy Ummm, who is that in our bedroom? Future Tech Bubble Sustainability! Sustainability! Sustainability!
Anyhow thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to sharing my experience, passion and life as a Latino in Tech.

"How To Build A Mobile App: From Ideation to Launch"
In this presentation we will discuss the production process behind making a mobile app. Overall the focus is on the workflow and production milestones to complete a project like this.
We will not focus much the technical programming elements and concentrate more on understanding this workflow behind the production process of taking an idea and making a Proof-of-Concept, MVP or V1.
Also this workflow is not just limited to Apps, as this process is pretty ubiquitous for almost all software and web development; it probably just never sounded so cool: "Apps".
Moreover our discussion should help you better understand a tech project's lifecycle and what are some common challenges to each stage in this cycle.
As such, this cycle can be broken up into four project goals or milestones, which include the Launch. The milestones to complete or satisfy are:
- Planning
- Production
- Q/A
- Launch
For this meetup we will focus more on the technical "nuts & bolts" of this process although we definitely need to address core business fundamentals like the business model, scale and sustainability; since we all can't be Google with infinite resources, #sigh.
Therefore it is critical that production aligns itself to your product's overall business goals and we will discuss that further at another meetup.
Ultimately our goal for this meetup is to provide a comprehensive summation of an app's production while introducing ideas and techniques to reinforce your tech knowledge.
Anyhow we look forward to sharing our experiences with you and I leave you with a maxim that I heard recently that I think embodies the spirit of this meetup: High tide raises all ships
Also for more meetups focused on mobile app publishing, marketing, analytics and monetization, please check out this group (https://www.meetup.com/NYC-Mobile-App-Support-Group/).
Gracias y saludos,
~C
