If you had a surprise day off work tomorrow, what would you WANT do? Would you want to kayak on Mt. Island Lake? Hike up Mt. Mitchell? SUP and chill? Marvel at the sensory explosion that is a Full Moon hike? Latta Outdoor Adventures is the group where people just like you come to find out what Outdoor Adventures are being offered RIGHT NOW at Latta Nature Preserve! We will keep you posted on all the programs for age 12 to Adult. Some are FREE meet-ups. Some cost a few bucks. Don’t have your own gear? No problem. That’s why we are here. Book a tour with us and let the Outdoor Recreation Specialists at Latta do the heavy lifting, literally. Birding Basics

Ready your binoculars, winter birds are visiting the feeders at Latta Nature Preserve! Join us for a morning with one of our educators as we learn how to identify birds, watch Quest’s birdfeeders for common visitors, and talk about bird feeding.
Depending on the weather, this program may include a hike upwards of 2 miles, dressing for the weather and bringing water is highly recommended. A limited number of binoculars are available to borrow – please let us know if you will require a pair.

Craft and Hike: Woolen Felted Ornaments

Weekday Getaway: Seven Oaks Nature Preserve

You don't have to go far for adventure. Seven Oaks Nature Preserve in Belmont, NC is a short drive from Latta Nature Preserve. This 5-mile easy hike boasts views of Lake Wylie along much of the trail. The approximately 215 feet of elevation gain makes this a great hike for beginners. Bring a lunch to enjoy on the trail. Transportation included!

Start your day on the right foot with a brisk morning hike. This moderate-paced guided hike will be around 4-5 miles as we get our heart rate up and take in the views.
