Join us for some fun yoga laughter exercises to improve your health and happiness! What is Laughter Yoga? Laughter Yoga is a unique concept where anyone can laugh for no reason without relying on jokes or comedy. How do you practice it? We initiate laughter as an exercise in a group but with eye contact and childlike playfulness. It soon turns into real and contagious laughter. Why is it called Laughter Yoga? The reason we call it Laughter Yoga is because it combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing. This brings more oxygen to the body and to the brain which makes you feel more energetic and healthy. Really? The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter if done with willingness. You get the same health benefits. The history behind Laughter Yoga: It was started by a medical doctor, Dr. Madan Kataria from India with just five people in a Mumbai park in 1995. Today there are more than 6000 Laughter Yoga Clubs in more than 72 countries. In 2015, Laughter Yoga will celebrate it's 20th Anniversary. In addition to social Laughter Clubs, Laughter Yoga is also practiced in companies and corporations, fitness centers, yoga studios, senior centers and homes, schools, colleges, universities, cancer centers, prisons, day care centers etc.

OnlineWe are Laughter Yoga USA, a non profit organization eager to share more laughter for health , a.k.a. Laughter Yoga, in all communities.
Laughter Yoga is a global laughter exercise program which was created in India in 1995 (that's 30 years ago!) by physician Dr. Madan Kataria. He started his first laughter club at a local Mumbai with the assistance of his wife Madhuri and three of their friends. Initially they told jokes get people to laugh but when the jokes ran out, the doctor came up with simple "laughter exercises" which were based on everyday situations.
Research suggested that laughter, whether real or intentional - as long as you breath deeply from the diaphram, your body cannot tell the difference between genuine or fabricated laughter. With prolonged laughter the brain receives a boost of happy hormones (dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins all increase), while stress hormones (cortisol) levels are significantly reduced.
Laughter is a great people connector and way to add more joy and levity to your life. Got stress? Feel it melt away during one of our laughter sessions!
Laughter Yoga is being practiced around the world, more than 120 countries- at schools, in hospitals, with businesses, with all types of groups in recovery, at community centers, festivals, in senior communities and beyond.
Come try what it can do for you. No experience necessary. Only the willingness to laugh. Pack a water bottle to keep hydrated. Bring a grumpy friend!
These sessions are complimentary!
Join us first Sundays each month. See the dates below.
