What we’re about
The Laurel Self Defense Group is an inclusive opportunity for people to train in basic, unarmed self defense strategies and techniques in a welcoming environment.
This is a group for anyone who could use a greater sense of confidence, awareness, exercise and community.
Instructor has decades of experience in martial arts, and the curriculum will be drawn from his varied experience.
Classes will consist of calisthenics, concepts, and conditioning -- i.e. drilling techniques. Techniques are simple to learn, but take practice to master. This isn't a "fitness" class, per se, but a certain level of flexibility, cardiovascular condition and strengthening is beneficial in addition to "dirty fighting."
Everyone is welcome, as long as they are will to work and train with anyone else.
The first class will begin next week, but other opportunities to train will exist around the year.
Instructor is local, and could do other meet ups/work shops as he is available.
The cost is $25 for Laurel residents, and $30 for non-residents, which works out to $5 or less per class.
We want this to be as accessible as possible to as many as possible.
