What we’re about
Are you looking for a fun and healthy way to explore the great outdoors? Join our hiking meetup! Our meetup is a great place to get exercise, breathe fresh air, and make new friends while enjoying some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the area. Our Sunday hikes start early in the morning (usually starting around 9am). We also hike other days and nights all week long. We currently have 4 hike organizers who are all volunteers. On Instagram @LawrencevilleHikers
- We hike moderate to intermediate trails, mostly within an hour's drive of Lawrenceville, but some farther out. Hikes range from 6-8 miles normally, with some hikes up to 12 miles. The pace will usually be 2.5 - 3 miles per hour. We keep a steady, strenuous pace and ask that participants stay up with the group. Always bring water with you, and sun protection.
- We often hike Fort Yargo, Tribble Mill, Harbins, Yellow River, Arabia, Stone Mountain, Ivy Creek Greenway, Elachee, Sandy Creek, Big Haynes Creek, and Little Mulberry but we also hike further trails like Kennesaw Mountain, Panther Creek or Blood Mountain. We welcome all skill levels but participants should be able to maintain a strenuous pace with the group at 2.5-3 mph.
- Beginning hikers are more than welcome in our group. However, if you have not walked for hours-long durations or kept up a fast pace, please make sure you do some park walks to prep in advance for our hikes. If you aren’t ready, you will cause the whole group to slow down or stop.
- This group is for adults ages 18 and up only. Each attendee must RSVP on Meetup and can bring one adult 18+ guest.
