Friday Sunset Walk - Oxbow and Burn Scar PLUS City Nature Challenge!

Details

Let's do something slightly different. We'll start by walking along the ditch trail, looking for beaver signs, walk as far into the San Antonio Oxbow as the trail allows, then backtrack a little along the ditch, and then into the old burn scar on the way back. This will be 3-4 miles, flat and sandy. Fingers crossed for porcs!

In May 2022, approximately 34 acres of this section of the bosque caught fire, with the fire leaping across the river before it was finally put out. Over a year later, the scars are still quite obvious but we'll be seeing LOTS of growth (mostly invasive species) among the burn.

ALSO, this is during the City Nature Challenge! More info at https://abqcitynature.org/ and iNaturalist. To participate in the challenge, install iNaturalist and join the project in the second link! Huzzah for citizen science! (Lots of interesting official events run by professional naturalists to look there at as well!)

Let's leave the doggos at home for this one and focus on the local wildlife. Binoculars are always a plus.
