Mindful Walk in Fog Lane Park

Details

Join me on a weekly mindful walk through the beautiful Fog Lane Park in Didsbury, South Manchester.

As a practicing GP with nearly 20 years of clinical experience, I know how hard it can be to take care of all aspects of our wellbeing. When do I have the time to exercise, practice mindfulness, eat paleo, and journal about gratitude? I have three kids, a wife, a responsible job, and a mortgage in Didsbury to pay.

That's why I set up Lazy Health Club. It's a chance for us to take time out in nature. It's a chance to relax and reset, free from the pressures of all the things we must do.

Bring a child or a dog if you like. We'll meet at the café and, after some introductions, we'll make our way around the park, focusing our attention on the beauty that we'll see all around us. We'll practice gratitude and learn to use some powerful resilience tools.

Feel free to talk. Or not. The aim is for you to feel comfortable - whatever that means for you.

There will be time for peaceful reflection and respectful discussion along the way, and at the end we can treat ourselves to a delicious coffee and cake at the café. Or maybe even an ice cream if the van turns up!

This session is perfect for anyone who is feeling anxious, down or fearful, anyone who is in pain or has questions about their life, or anyone who just wants to have a peaceful walk in the company of kind strangers.

Mindfulness, especially outdoors has been proven to be highly effective in managing a range of conditions from IBS to anxiety, migraines to back pain, and is something I often recommend as a practicing clinician. This walk is a chance to explore the power of this approach.

Anyone is welcome. The park is flat and there is a path all the way around. At times it can become muddy and waterlogged so please dress appropriately remembering wellies or sturdy boots if it's wet. The walk will be less than two miles in total and there are benches to rest along the way.

Free on street parking is available on Parkville Road, Westholme Road, Fog Lane and Parrswood Road. The nearest metrolink station is Didsbury Village station and the nearest railway station is Burnage station.

I'll be outside the café holding a yellow umbrella at 11am every Sunday.

See you there!
