🌱 July Plant-Powered Picnic: Vegan Potluck at Mile Square Park! 🧺
Dear Friends,
Let's welcome summer with good vegan food and great company! Please join us for a vibrant, family-friendly, and inclusive potluck at the beautiful Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley near Shelter 3 by the northeast lake/Palm Island near the corner of Edinger and Euclid! Whether you are a lifelong vegan, plant-curious, or just love a good outdoor gathering, this event is for all ages. Children and the young at heart as well as companion animals are especially welcome! 💗
Mile Square Park is an expansive, gorgeous green oasis in the heart of Orange County. It’s the perfect backdrop for a sunny July Saturday afternoon of community, fun, and delicious plant-based food.
### Park Highlights & Amenities
- Green Spaces: Endless acres of lush grass perfect for relaxing, doing art outdoors as I will bring some of my art supplies--feel free to brign your own as well, and playing sports as I will bring a soccer ball and frisbee.
- Recreation Options: Fun swan boat and bicycle rentals, multiple playgrounds, walking paths, and plenty of room for sports.
- Nature Views: Shady tree groves and nearby lakes where you can spot local ducks and geese.
- Conveniences: Restroom facilities (we will be close to Restrooms #7 located throughout the park.
### Location & Meeting Spot
Mile Square Park - Near Shelter 3 in the Northeast Corner by Edinger/Euclid intersection. Since Google Maps sends you further south if you just input "Mile Square Park", please look for Shelter 3 or follow this link:

> Where to find us: We will be setting up our picnic blankets near Shelter 3 tables on the grassy area near the Euclid Street and Edinger Avenue side of the park, close to the playground facilities. Look out for the group of friendly folks and a spread of delicious food!
### Parking
Mile Square Park has plenty of parking.
- Inside the park: There is a standard county park vehicle entry fee ($5 on weekends), with the closest parking lots accessible via the Euclid or Ward St. entrances.
- Street parking: Free curbside parking can often be found along the adjacent neighborhood streets and main borders if you prefer to walk in.
### Time
11:00AM until 1:00PM
We are starting a bit earlier to soak up that gorgeous June afternoon sun! The end time is flexible—stay as long as the twilight and good conversation last.
### Dining Details (The Potluck!)
Please bring only vegan food (100% plant-based dishes with no meat, seafood, dairy, eggs, or honey).
As people have asked what to bring, you're welcome to leave a comment on what you plan on making!

- Label Your Goods: Please clearly label your ingredients so friends with allergies or sensitivities can dine safely.
- Eco-Friendly: In our effort to remain conscious of environmental conservation, please bring your own reusable serving dishes, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils to avoid single-use plastic waste.
- Takeout Welcome: If you're short on time and bring a restaurant takeout order from nearby Au Lac, Bo De, Saigon Vegan, or The Sun Vegan, that is totally fine! Just ensure it's vegan—we welcome you and whatever shape your food takes.
### Personal Comfort & Gear
- Seating: Please bring your own portable lawn chairs and/or lawn blankets so we can ensure everyone has a comfy spot on the grass in case the shelter is already booked or claimed by an early morning party.
- Layers: Mornings and afternoons can be warm, but the park breezes can get cool. Wearing layers or bringing a light jacket is highly recommended.
- Sun Protection: Don't forget your sunscreen for the afternoon sun!
- Recreation: Feel free to bring your soccer balls, frisbees, footballs, or favorite lawn and board games! There is plenty of space to get active.
