#5 - “Supporting your teams, creating culture & resolving conflict”
Speaker: Danielle Summers, Tech Lead @ Redgate Software
Talk Title: Developer Culture
Talk Blurb: Developer culture has changed rapidly over the last 20 years, from silo'd tech teams to a pivotal part of modern life. Growing pains and conflict points surround every team and friction between teams continues to hamper staff retention, individual engagement and product delivery.
I'll be exploring several of the challenging cultures and behaviours that I've encountered in my career and how I turned them around, empowering individuals and teams while enhancing synergy.
Bio: I’m a seasoned engineer based in Manchester with 15 years of hands-on experience covering the full Microsoft stack including modern web development, plus nearly half a decade in management.
I champion cultures of trust, respect, and acceptance as my teams rise to new challenges. Having worked with many international brands with multi-national presences across North America, EMEA, and Asia (e.g. Sony, GSK, NCAA & Tesco to name a few), plus local public-sector businesses, I’m intimately familiar with mentoring and leading engineering teams to deliver.
Speaker: Phil Larkin, Tech Lead @ NBrown

Examples all come from real life conflicts that Philip has faced in his journey to be a better people manager.
Personal Bio: Best known as being the nosiest tech lead in NBrown, Philip dedicates a portion of his work and personal time to advocating for community. In a post covid world, it's more important than ever to connect with people in the same field as you. Philip has run hackathons and set up round table discussions within the companies that he's worked, and always feels there is more that can be done for his people!
