CHAPTER 3: UNDERSTANDING AND COMBATTING SHAME (Part 2: pages 83–111)
In the second half of this chapter on understanding shame, Brown outlines the differences in how men and women experience shame. We all know that we are different and that we have very different voices (gremlins) in our heads. This section outlines those differences well. At the end of this section, you will have the opportunity to work out your own picture of a life of wholeheartedness.Resources

CHAPTER 4: THE VULNERABILITY ARMORY (Part 2: pages 146–171)
Life can be very difficult, and engaging it with vulnerability really does require one to dare greatly. Many of us have tried and been hurt a few too many times and have resigned ourselves to the sidelines of wholehearted living. We have become numb, or we know others who have become numb, and we hide ourselves in our phone or another (de)vice. This section, which provides some examples of how we check out of life, encourages us to become resilient.Resources

CHAPTER 5: MIND THE GAP: CULTIVATING CHANGE AND CLOSING THE
DISENGAGEMENT DIVIDE
To mind the gap is to become very aware of the differences between the life we aspire to live and the one we are currently living. As leaders in our professional and personal lives, we are holding up a standard for all to aspire to, and sometimes our own shortcomings peak louder than our words. We must learn first to see this and then develop strategies
to engage it with vulnerability.Resources
