As CTO, Geir leads the R&D department at Cognite, currently about 80 developers and data scientists.

In 2011, Geir founded Snapsale, a machine learning classifieds startup. He served as CEO/CTO of Snapsale until Schibsted acquired the company in 2017.

Before that, he spent three years working as a senior software engineer for Google in Canada. His team focused on machine learning for AdWords and AdSense, resulting in the Conversion Optimizer product.

Geir holds an MSc in Computational Science from the University of Oslo and has a silver medal from the International Olympiad in Informatics.
