What we’re about
Welcome to an ORSSA (Operations Research Society of South Africa) initiative. Achieving higher quality, lower costs, greater efficiency, more analytical insight; these are a few of the questions faced by companies on a daily basis. The field of Operations Research, together with the related disciplines of Statistics, Data Mining, Computer Science, and Mathematics, attempt to address these challenges in an increasingly complex and changing environment.
These events are a forum for people involved in Operations Research and Data Analytics to make contact with others who share a common curiosity and passion for the fields in which they work. The format is based on a lightweight meeting structure called Lean-Coffee which require no formal preparation by participants. We simply discuss the issues raised by those attending. So bring your topics and join us, whether you are professional, a student, or simply curious about the science of making things better. You will also hear about upcoming national and chapter ORSSA events, as well as feedback on topics being raised by similar meet-ups held in other chapters.
