Play Earthborne Rangers to train for 2032 Olympics
Details
Play and grow your skills in this co-operative board game among beginner to advanced players. Let's train up for the 2032 Olympic Board Games— you might join a team or cheer them on! Free, nothing to prep, no experience necessary.
Earthborne Rangers (ER) excels with its initial simplicity and elegant depth. You explore a world with optimistic “solarpunk” themes as you work as a team to succeed together. It's like Dungeons & Dragons but a nice change from grim dungeon-crawling and disaster-fighting, and has more structure, less improvisation. Learn more about ER here.
You can leave anytime, but if keen, stay all afternoon and evening to play with increasing depth as our Olympic-dreaming teams gel— whether you want to go for the gold on our final team, or just squad up to improve each other. See other events in this Meetup group for continued intermediate to advanced play, both on this day indoors and soon under the skies of Victoria Park.
If you are an absolute beginner to this kind of game, come to the morning event here or here to learn how to play, then stay for this event to continue as a beginner. Watch out for other learn-to-play events in this Meetup group in coming months.
We welcome absolutely everyone and ensure a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. We've face-to-face played games with over 1000 people of every kind— join us!
Want just to watch? Olympic teams need fans, you are welcome! Please don't RSVP; keep an eye on this Meetup group for separate free events that invite audience members.
If possibly contagious in any way, please do not attend— we don't want to catch a cold, flu, or Covid.
Accessibility and comfort: There are no stairs. A "baby gate" in the venue is narrower than a standard door— but it's just waist high so a chair can be lifted over it. There is a toilet.
Indoors in Fortitude Valley just 5 minutes' walk from the train station. RSVP and see the private comment below to see exact location details.
Soft start at 1pm to socialise, refresh rule knowledge, and build teams. Actual play starts at 2pm. You can stop at any time, but keen players can continue well into the evening. OK to show up as late as 6PM if you are an advanced player, when we kick off a racing mission for robust training. Bring your own set of Earthborne to optimise training and deck building, but we have two Ranger deck sets on hand.
