Kotlin Night Warsaw

Details
We are thrilled to announce Kotlin Night in Warsaw! The event is organized by Kt. Academy and will be held on Thursday, February 28 at Polidea office (Przeskok 2).
Doesn’t matter if you are an experienced Kotlin developer or just started out—you’ll have an opportunity to learn during the presentations and to integrate during networking and party time! A great opportunity to meet Kotlin enthusiasts and experts in an open and friendly atmosphere.
► Agenda:
→ 18:00 - Doors open - registration
→ 18:30 - A welcome word from the organizers
💬18:40 - Time for discussion and enlightening talks

Unfortunatelly, we have to change the agenda, because our first speaker got sick. This means that we will make more space for you! If you have something connected to Kotlin that you want to share, or if you have an enlightening talk (max 5 min), you'll have space to share it with us.
During the meetup, you will have a chance to win Kotlin Night t-shirt and IntelliJ IDEA license!
For each of you we will have nice stickers, pizza and a beer.

💬Understanding Kotlin Coroutines
by Marcin Moskała (Kt. Academy)
Kotlin Coroutines is a powerful tool. Well implemented concept of suspendable computation... It is a dream of many theoretics of concurrent programming for a long time. But how it is possible? How do Kotlin coroutines really work? Why are they important? What do they introduce? And finally, how you can use them in your project?
In this talk, I will show you how to use Kotlin Coroutines and what makes them so special and so efficient. I will also discuss if they are an alternative to RxJava.
Marcin Moskala is an experienced Android developer, teacher, and an official Jetbrains' Kotlin training partner. He is the founder of Kt. Academy, author of the book "Android Development with Kotlin", and an active programming community member. He is also the main author on the biggest medium publication about Kotlin: blog.kotlin-academy.com
💬Does Kotlin slow down our code?
by Krzysztof Romanowski (VirtusLab)
Kotlin, as well as other languages like Scala or Groovy is developed (echm, hacked, eckm) over JVM. We all enjoy features like extension methods or strict null management that does not have corresponding functionalities native to JVM. How does that affect performance?
Let’s run some benchmarks!
Krzysztof Romanowski is Head of Dev & Scala Tooling @ Virtuslab where he has spent endless hours debugging Scala IDE, SBT, IntelliJ or even Scala compiler itself. Author of expression evaluator engine for Scala IDE and zinc contributor. Organizer of sphere.it conference and both Kotlin and Scala users groups in Kraków.
