Zero to Block Theme Series #2: theme.json
Details
Welcome to the second session of Zero to Block Theme: Foundations
What this series is about:
Have you ever wondered how themes are developed?
Or, have you ever ventured into the backend of your WordPress website and wondered just what, exactly, you were looking at?
Finally, have you ever wanted to learn the very basics of WordPress block theme development ?
If so, this intermediate learn-up series is for you!
Last Week
Last week’s session covered setting up your first local installation of WordPress, finding your way into WordPress’ actual core files, creating a child theme, and changing a color using theme.json.
This Week
Now that you’re able to find all the files that make up a WordPress theme, we’ll discuss at a high level the primary parts of a block theme, including index.php, style.css, functions.php, parts, templates, and, most excitingly, theme.json.
This session will provide a high-level overview of the most important parts of your theme, then dig into theme.json so that you can start experimenting with this feature immediately. It will also be recorded.
If you were unable to attend last week's session #1 (Foundations) and are a beginner to WordPress development work, we recommend watching the recording before attending this social learning space. For the time being, the recording of last week's session can be found here:
