Ever Evolving You

I have been thinking lately that retirement, unlike life's chapters that preceded it, truly is uncharted territory.

Retirement is the first chapter of life that is not pre-scripted by external expectations. Every chapter before it comes with a built-in map; the learning years and the earning years, but not retirement. There is no structure handed to you – you author the structure. And so, we begin a chapter of discovery to figure out what's best for us.

But here is the thing, no matter how long you have been retired, there is a sense of “figuring it out” that does not go away. This is not a bad thing – it is the realization that life is complicated and ever changing. We are not meant to stay the same; we are meant to grow and learn.
