Retirement is not a destination. Change is constant.

Details

The greatest thing about retirement is that after years of working relentlessly toward some goal or another, we have arrived! Retirement is the reward for all that effort, right? Work dies down, the body cooperates, relationships stay steady, and the world feels familiar.

Okay, I know none of you believe that retirement is pure bliss, if we have learned anything about life, it is that change is constant.

Still, as we create new routines and let go of old worries, a part of us starts to think that things have finally settled – we are feeling wise, calm, and at ease with ourselves and others. And then, BOOM! Significant changes swoop in - changes in our body, our health, and physical capabilities, changes in relationships, financial changes, culture shifts, political and global changes.

Retirement is not a destination; it is the next chapter and requires work just like every chapter before it. It may sound morbid (and ironic), but the only time in our lives when we fully arrive is death.

To live well in this chapter, we need to make room for compassion, adaptation, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and life as it evolves.

Join us for a conversation about the changes we are experiencing in retirement and share ideas and insights about what we have had to rethink, realign, or release along the way. As always, we look forward to engaging discussion and creating community as we learn from each other, evolve, and grow in this chapter of our lives.
