We are experiencing an extraordinary expression of community in Minneapolis and across Minnesota and it has me thinking about the power of community in our lives.

Community can bring out the best in us. It is in community that we feel a sense of belonging and meaning as we do life together. In community we share a common purpose. In community connections among strangers often evolve into friendship.

Different communities meet different needs; no single community can do everything. Being a part of multiple groups can expand our world view and perspective. New ideas, new people, and new routines create opportunities for growth, resilience, and friendship.

What communities are you a part of? Think about the groups and places where you feel connected and involved. These can be formal and informal groups – families, neighborhoods, friend groups, fitness groups, religious and spiritual communities, volunteer organizations, hobby and interest groups, meetup groups, book clubs, political organizations, and online communities.

Join us for a conversation on the benefits of community, how you find or create community and your experience making friends along the way. Our Learning and Thriving in Retirement community is enriched by the other communities of which you are a part.

As always, we look forward to engaging conversation as we learn from each other, evolve, and grow in this chapter of our lives. If you are able, join us for a social hour at a local restaurant following our discussion.
