[Ice Skating Series] Sundays Blades of Glory @ Steriti

Intro:
We're extending our ice-skating series since this has been so popular and welcome newcomers. We will be meeting at existing free public skating rinks during public skate hours. Note that you'll have to bring your own skates or rent them ($5 cash). We'll practise together together. Feel free to bring small snacks.

Series: Ice Skating
In this series, we'll be doing some ice-skating and have some snacks.

Schedule:

• 3-4:30p Informal skating, ahead of meetup
• 4:30-4:45p Arrive, meet, put on skates
• 4:45p Learn to skate
• 6:50p Wrap up... potentially dinner

We'll target to meet as follows:

• Through 12/21 whenever weather doesn't leave room for outdoor activities (i.e., mid-50s and below, rain). We may skip near holidays and pick up in the new year.

Transportation:

• Car: Steriti Rink is in the North End and we are targeting Sundays to make parking easier.
• T: Take it to North Station T

Drop-in/Costs:

• Free, but donations appreciated to help cover meetup fees (~$350/yr).

Learning Progression (Tentative):

1. Setup - Skates snug on foot (true fit) (no more than finger space behind foot)

• 2a) Basics Forward - Swizzles, Stopping (Snow-plow) Forward Stroke/Glide
• 2b) Backward - Swizzles, Stopping (Snow-plow), Backward Stroke/Glide
• 3a) Proficient Forward - T-stop (inside, outside edge), Hockey Stop, Forward Cross-Over, T-start
• 3b) Proficient Backward - T-stop, Hockey Stop, Backwards Cross-Over

Note: The host does not have experience in the following, but will look to prepare for those interested:

• 4a) Advanced Figure
• Two-Foot Spin (March (V-shape), Forward Inside Pivot, Bring in)
• Back Inside Loop
• One-Foot Turn (Bracket - diff circle, 3 turn - same circle)
• Hops / Jumps (tbd)
• 5b) Advanced Hockey
• Forward/Backware Half-Cross Over for Speed
• F/B Half-Cross - T-start - B/F Half-Cross
