Empathy in Action: What's Hiding Inside "I Feel..."?
Exploring faux feelings and the deeper emotions underneath

  • “I feel ignored.”
  • “I feel judged.”
  • “I feel rejected.”

These phrases sound like feelings — but in Nonviolent Communication, they’re often called faux feelings because they can include both an emotion and a story about what someone else is doing.

Sometimes, a faux feeling is a bit like a criticism wearing a feeling hat. 🎩
In this interactive workshop, we’ll slow down and explore what may be underneath phrases like these. Together, we’ll practice separating interpretation from feeling, identifying the needs beneath our reactions, and finding language that supports more clarity and connection.

You’ll have opportunities to:

  • notice the difference between feelings and interpretations
  • explore the emotions and needs underneath common faux feelings
  • practice with real-life examples
  • build more emotional vocabulary and self-awareness
  • experiment with language that feels honest without blame

No NVC experience is required. You do not need to know the “right words” or get anything perfect.

We’re practicing together. 🦒💛

L2O2 workshops are interactive and experiential, with space for reflection, conversation, and hands-on practice in a supportive community setting.
