Barden Moor Round (approx 14 miles)

Details
You are most welcome to join us on this high level circuit of Barden Moor and Reservoirs. The walk will start from Embsay Reservoir car park (free courtesy of Yorkshire Water).
We will start walking at 10.00am prompt, so please allow sufficient time for traveling and changing into boots, etc, and come appropriately attired and equipped for the conditions expected.
The walk itself is moderate to strenuous with some scrambling - a total ascent of approx. 650 m (2,160 ft). A good level of fitness is required.
The walk initially follows a track north west out of the car park and then climbs up to Cookrise Crags with splendid views from the top. From there we descend over rough terrain to cross Waterfall Gill which we leap just above the waterfall. We then have a steady climb up to the Cracoe Cross and then on to the Rylstone Pinnacle, passing over the Rylstone track on the way. We then work our way round the moor to the high point of Thorpe Fell Top (extra trig point optional). We then continue round the moor as we descend to the Barden Reservoirs. From there follow good tracks up to the road and then continue on to a shooting hut - climbing all the way. From the hut we then head across the moor following the line of butts before descending to the village of Eastby and on to Embsay. From here we follow the road back to the car park. We expect to finish between 5 and 5.30 pm.
