'A' Walk -A Bleaklow Crossing - Leader James
This is a linear walk of about 14 miles from Crowden to Glossop, with some 2000 feet of ascent.
Alighting the coach on the A628 near Crowden, our route follows the Pennine Way following Torside Clough onto Bleaklow Head, and continues in a southerly direction to the Snake Pass road. From here, we continue over Featherbed Moss to Mill Hill, where we leave the Pennine Way to gradually descend to the Grouse Inn on the A624. The final section takes us along footpaths and minor roads to Whiteley Nab, from where we descend into Glossop.
"B" Walk - Leader - Lynn
The B walk will be approx 8 miles with 427m of ascent.
Circular walk from Old Glossop, incorporating Cock Hill, the Longdendale trail and Padfield with good views over the reservoirs in the Longdendale valley.
"C" Walk - Leader - Sarah. Details to be given on the coach
"D" Walk - Leader - Roger
Old Glossop, Shire Hill and Swineshaw Reservoir
About 5 miles, 350ft of ascent/descent. Afew gap stiles amd kissing gates.
From the centre of Glossop we walk through the historic streets of Old Glossop and out into the country to the lower slopes of Shire Hill. The route then continues along quiet lanes before heading up to Swineshaw Reservoir, finally returning to the city centre via the leafy paths of Manor Park.
Those who have walked with us before should note that from 1st January 2022 we brought our conditions into line with those of the parent club, Leeds CHA Rambling and Social Club, where newcomers can attend their first three walks free of charge to see if the group is suitable for them, but if they wish to continue we ask them to join the club and pay the annual subscription (only £6 a year!).
Only a small selection of our walks are posted on the Meetup site but paid up club members have access to our full programme which includes one or two walks each Saturday, and a choice of up to three walks on Sundays (including up to four coach trips a year so you can relax and chat on the journey without having to drive). Also we normally arrange one or two walking weekends away each year so there is something to suit everyone.
