You are most welcome to join us on this delightful walk from Otley of about 9 miles which is a Leeds CHA "B" walk.
The walk commences from Otley Bus Station, and is timed to meet the 9:35am No X84 Ilkley bus from CBS at 10:14 for those who do not have transport. For those travelling by car, the nearest car park to the bus station is at the junction of Charles Street and Walkergate. We plan to start walking from the Station at 10:20am, so allow sufficient time for travelling and changing into boots, etc, and come suitably attired for the conditions expected.
The Route
We head East from Otley on good footpaths with Otley Chevin high to the right and Almscliff Crag and the Wharfe valley to the left and arrive at Old Pool bank. We now walk through the village of Pool to the river Wharfe which we follow towards Castley and then head north to Riffa Woods and onto Leathley. Now it is an easy walk back to Otley on the north bank of the river.
There is only a small amount of ascent but expect it to be very muddy especially by the river. If the weather is very bad on the day the walk can be shortened to about 7 and a half miles.
There is no charge to attend the first three CHA walks, but to attend further walks we request that you join our club for an annual membership of only £6.00. This will give you access to an unlimited number of walks, social events, coach trips, and weekends away, in line with our parent club Leeds CHA Rambling & Social Club. for further details follow the link on this website.
