## Details

You have the choice of a 10 mile walk which returns down from Simon's Seat and back along the River Wharfe to Barden Bridge. The other is 13 miles and it continues from Simon's Seat to Trollers Gill and eventually back to the start point at Barden Bridge.

Join us on this walk in scenic Wharfedale with high moorland, picturesque villages and a gorge to explore.
The walk will start at Barden Bridge (Grid ref SE 053574), which can be reached by following the B6160 from the A59 roundabout, passing Bolton Abbey and turning right at Barden Tower to the bridge where there is parking available. We plan to start at 9.45 prompt so please allow time for changing into boots, etc.
From the bridge, we traverse :

  • Highlights:
  • The Strid: A narrow, dangerous section of the River Wharfe.
  • Valley of Desolation : A wooded valley featuring a scenic waterfall.

Simon's Seat : Offers panoramic views of the Yorkshire Dales.

  • Trollers Gill : A deep limestone ravine with caves and scree slopes.

We expect to finish about 5.00pm or earlier.
There is no charge to attend the first three CHA walks, but to attend further walks we request that you join our club for an annual membership fee of only £6. This will give you access to an unlimited number of walks, social events, coach trips and weekends away, in line with our parent club Leeds CHA Rambling & Social Club.
