'A' Walk -Wensleydale Villages (Masham to Leyburn)
Leader - John S
Commencing in Masham, our route takes us to the small villages of High Ellington and Ellingstring and through plantation areas to East Witton, before reaching the River Cover. We continue to Middleham with its castle and follow the River Ure for a while to Wensley Bridge, walk through Wensley and climb up to Leyburn. The walk is about 14/15 miles with 1000 feet of ascent.

"B" Walk -A medium grade walk of approx. 9 miles. Leader Jeff
A very pleasant low level walk with some climbing. We will make our way across fields to the village of Wensley. Making our way past Bolton Hall we continue to go through West Wood and onto Redmire. The return walk goes under the Wensleydale Railway line and on to Preston-under-Scar, after this we have short climb up to Leyburn Shawl. Good views can be had on this 1.3/4 miles along stretch of the Shawl, especially earlier in the year when there less leaves on the trees.

"C" Walk Leader: Sarah
Start from Jervaulx Abbey. After a quick look round the Abbey, we then walk along the riverbank to Cover Bridge and the junction with the Ure. From Cover and Ulshaw bridges we continue to follow the Ure upstream towards first Spennithorne then Harmby. After a short uphill climb to Harmby we explore the spectacular Harmby Waterfall at the top of the village. From Harmby we follow the main road to Leyburn, past the Chocolate Factory and Leyburn Station.
About 6.5 miles and 200 feet of climbing. Riverbank paths, back lanes and tracks with a few easy stiles.

"D" Walk -Leyburn Shawl and Preston-under-Scar. Leader Roger
From Leyburn we will walk along Leyburn Shawl escarpment and then down over fields into Preston-under-Scar village (lunch stop). After lunch we walk down over fields, cross the Wensleydale railway, and on into the grounds of Bolton Hall. From there we walk past the hall and along the estate road into Wensley village. The coach will pick us up at 4.00pm to return to Leyburn.
About 5.5 miles, about 300ft gradual ascent. Several stiles and a flight of stone steps.

Those who have walked with us before should note that from 1st January 2022 we brought our conditions into line with those of the parent club, Leeds CHA Rambling and Social Club, where newcomers can attend their first three walks free of charge to see if the group is suitable for them, but if they wish to continue we ask them to join the club and pay the annual subscription (only £6 a year!).
Only a small selection of our walks are posted on the Meetup site but paid up club members have access to our full programme which includes one or two walks each Saturday, and a choice of up to three walks on Sundays (including up to four coach trips a year so you can relax and chat on the journey without having to drive). Also we normally arrange one or two walking weekends away each year so there is something to suit everyone.
