Details

You are most welcome to join us on this walk through the spectacular limestone country that is a feature of the Malham area. The walk will commence from Malham itself, which can be reached by following signs from the A65 in Gargrave, passing through Airton and Kirkby Malham. Parking is available at the Malham National Park Visitor Centre car park (a fee is payable), or on the approach road to the village. We will meet by the Visitor Centre to start the walk at 10.00am, so allow sufficient time for travelling and changing into boots, etc, and come suitably attired for the conditions expected. If you require transport do not hesitate to message John or James, who will arrange for you to be picked up on the day.
The Route
From Malham, our route climbs out of the village in a westerly direction to the summit of Rye Loaf Hill and then descends into Stockdale to eventually arrive at Victoria Cave. From here we make our eastwards to pass round Malham Tarn, and continue past the Watersinks and the Dry Valley to emerge at the breath-taking Malham Cove. We have the opportunity here of diverting to Gordale Scar and Janets Foss before making our way back to the car park. This is a CHA 'A' walk of a fairly strenuous nature, being about 14 to 16 miles long with some 1800 feet of ascent, and can be modified to suit conditions on the day. We expect to finish the walk between 5.00 and 5.30pm.

There is no charge to attend the first three CHA walks, but to attend further walks we request that you join our club for an annual membership of only £6.00. This will give you access to an unlimited number of walks, social events, coach trips, and weekends away, in line with our parent club Leeds CHA Rambling & Social Club. for further details follow the link on this website.
