In the Monks' footsteps

This is a CHA C walk of approx. 6 miles. It is a circular walk from Kirkstall Abbey. There is a short climb at the beginning but mostly flat for the rest of the walk. There will be a short stretch of walking on a pavement beside a road but otherwise we will be walking over playing fields, through woodland beside the River Aire and on the towpath beside the Leeds to Liverpool canal. There are lots of things of historical interest to see, including an arch built for Queen Victoria that she never visited, a pack horse bridge and Kirkstall Abbey. The café at Kirkstall Abbey should be open for tea and cakes at the end of the walk.

There is car parking off Abbey Walk opposite the Abbey, or catch the 10.29 no 33 Guiseley bus from the Bus Station. Meet at 10.50 at the Abbey bus stop.

There is no charge to attend the first three CHA walks, but to attend further walks we request that you join our club for an annual membership of only £6.00.
