Discussion - Has Christianity been corrupted?

Early on in the book of Acts the word "Christian" did not exist. Jesus' disciples described themselves as following "The Way."
It's been a long time since then. Is the Christianity we experience and practice in 2025 Leeds the same as it was in the Early church? Has history corrupted what Jesus started, or has the way of Jesus survived the twists and turns of 2000 years to be preserved today? If that's the case, why are there so many denominations?
