Ride Description: Clapham Circular

This ride offers superb views of the Dales' Three Peaks. We climb out of the village of Clapham along the valley next to Ingleborough on our way to Sulber Gate with good views of a lime stone plateau. The trail descends to the Settle & Carlisle railway. We then cross the river Ribble over a super wooden bridge (main photo) then on grassy single track to High Birkwith, we traverse round the Pennine Way back down the rocky track to Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

Possible cafe stop here, after which we leave towards Dub Cote Farm and then down to Helwith Bridge. We now head to Feizor along the Pennine Bridleway, then towards Austwick on a lovely flowing track, across a small beck, and finally we go along Thwaite Lane back to Clapham.

A super day's riding with fantastic views throughout the ride. posssible stop for a refreshment break at the three peaks cafe or a pub on the way you can bring your own just in case.

Distance: 23 miles

Estimated Duration: 5 hours app

Technical/Physical Difficulty: Intermediate ability the descents / climbs balance out, but nothing too technical. Mostly grassy/gravel trails, a few rocky sections. makes this a moderate to hard rated ride with about 2,600ft of climbing, so a good level of fitness required.

Suitable for: Mountain Bikes only

Recommendations: Spare Tubes, Tools, Pump, Food, Energy Bars, Water,

Safety: No Helmet = No Ride!

if parking in the carpark cost £5.50 for the day . nearest railway station is Clapham station approx 1 mile away. I recommend you bring a handle bar light for the 2x longish tunnels we travel through they are no lights in them.
