Film Jam 1
Details
We meet at Park Square in Leeds (location pinned to the event). There's a few coffee shops around, if you fancy getting something on the way to the park. According to the forecast, it should not rain in the morning - but if it does, I'll update the change of location. (We'll probably move to the Starbucks near the park in that case.)
Based on how many people actually turn up, we will split into filming teams. The teams get to decide what roles their members can assume.
Agenda:
1. MEET & GREET:
I'll be at the location from 10:00 AM and hoping to start the jam in half an hour. People can arrive earlier if they want more time or chat over coffee.
2. BEGIN:
Around 10:30 AM, I'll kick start the event by taking down names and contacts of each individual along with their teams and the roles they would be assuming for the day.
3. LOCATIONS-GENRE-LINE
Once the teams are ready, I will pop out two filming locations (random each time). These would be the two locations which need to be a part of the short films. The genre of the short will also be randomly picked up. And a random line/quote will be announced which needs to be a dialogue in the short film.
4. FILM
We go off with our teams and get on with planning/writing/acting/filming/editing... Of course, nobody expects editing to happen within the time window, so consider it as optional.
5. SOCIAL
Around 4:30 PM, we meet up at a pre-decided pub for a social, where we can finish editing the short or just socialise with each other - and leave the editing for later. I will have the contacts so I'll connect with you later to grab the finished products to post them all together. (Depending on whether we find a pub with a screen, we may or may not be able to cast your film at the end of the day if you've got a first draft ready by then.)
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
1. You and your enthusiasm!
2. Camera (smartphones, DSLRs whatever)
3. Laptops for people who are looking to edit later that day
It's not a competition! This is just the first event so do not come with expectations of having a cinematic short or even a passable showreel at the end of the day. Don't be too focussed on whether you'll get to do what you do best. This is just a casual event for people to get to meet like-minded people, learn from each other, share the experience, and most importantly, have some fun! What else would you be want to get out of a lazy Sunday?
