A study group for people of any ability self studying Japanese, a place to share resources, advice and encouragement, to practice conversation, or just provide a bit of structure for your studies.
My initial aim is to have one meeting per month, starting January 2023.
Absolute beginners welcome, I will be bringing along some resources suitable for beginners and can help advise how to get started with learning Japanese.
(There won't be any formal teaching, but my hope is that we will have a range of abilities in the group so people will have the opportunity to learn from others)

My name is Masaru, but you can call me Josh if you like. I've taken over as the organiser of this group!
I'm a native Japanese speaker, and I'm hoping to meet people and help them learn Japanese.
Everyone is welcome in this group, from complete beginners to advanced learners. Beginners are especially welcome — no experience needed.
Beginners please just join. I'm thinking to ask advance learners to discuss about your experiences or views on Japan this week. If you prepare a bit that will help, although it is not a requirement.
Also please suggest study materials. It will be helpful if you bring something like your favourite comic book written in Japanese.
To be an organiser I had to start a monthly subscription at meetup.com, which costs me monthly. So I will be asking donations of £2 per attendance to cover this, although it is completely optional. It will be really nice if you come along and join us. Feel free to bring your friends.
Out second meeting will be at Parkside Tavern on Merrion Street (LS2 8JE, https://www.parksidetavern.co.uk/) on Wednesday (NOT Thursday), 4th of February. We'll start from 18:00 and plan for 90 minutes. We are likely to be sitting upstairs.
