Chris Smith - What the heck is the Shadow DOM?
Details
Howdy Javascripters!
The end of the month approaches which means it's time for our May meet-up! This month, we have a talk on the Shadow DOM and Web Components from Chris Smith. We're really excited to learn about this new addition to our browsers!
Here's a brief intro from Chris:
"JavaScript has a long history of being difficult to structure and maintain when dealing with complex client based web apps. To deal with this, a plethora of frameworks have emerged over the years. Slowly we have seen the DOM API's improve.
ES6 and web components are happening!
In this talk I'll show you how I got started with vanilla web platform code, and what I found on my journey!"
Chris is a Developer at Frog Education and is a JavaScript advocate. He believes in the Semantic Web, that Javascript rocks and that ES6 will set us free. You can follow Chris on twitter at @drunk_dev (https://twitter.com/drunk_dev).
Also this month, we will be launching our first monthly challenge! More details will be announced at the meet-up.
As ever there will be food and drink beforehand. We hope to see you there at 6:45 for a brief chat before we have a 10-15 minute demo and the main talk starts at 7:30. Most people show up early to have a drink, network and talk about all things JavaScript before the demo and talk.
Please note the group is intended for developers looking to expand their knowledge in a recruiter free zone. Whilst interest from recruitment consultants is nice we have a no recruiters policy.
