Glynn Bird - Offline-First means always on
Details
Howdy Javascripters!
It's that time again, another talk is on its way and this one looks like it's going to be one you don't want to miss! This month we have Glynn Bird from IBM joining us and he will be showing us all how we should be writing our web apps to work offline.
Here is Glynn's brief intro:
"If your app (native or web) doesn't work offline, then your users will uninstall [it] and find an alternative. This talk shows how offline first apps can be created to give your users a first-class, always on experience, with very little work for you, the developer!"
Glynn currently works for IBM Cloud Data Services and has had a wide and varied career ranging from CRMs to creating control and instrumentation systems for the steel industry (awesome I know!). He has worked with many web technologies like NoSQL, PHP, Node.js, MySQL, Redis, Cloudant, and Redshift so you will probably want to nab him for a chat after the talk!
We will also be doing demos for last month's RxJS challenge, so bring your laptops and your projects to compete for prizes!
As ever there will be food and drink beforehand. We hope to see you there at 6:45 for a brief chat before we have a 10-15 minute demo and the main talk starts at 7:30. Most people show up early to have a drink, network and talk about all things JavaScript before the demo and talk.
Please note the group is intended for developers looking to expand their knowledge in a recruiter free zone. Whilst interest from recruitment consultants is nice we have a no recruiters policy.
