Hey there Javascripters!

This month we've got a great talk from Rachel Black on React and Redux from a junior developer's perspective, as well as techniques for learning. It sounds like a great talk and should be excellent for those wanting to learn more, even if they don't want to learn React and Redux.

Here is a brief intro from Rachel:

"Learning new things is hard, particularly when you are new to development. My talk will be in two part; firstly a beginner’s perspective on the benefits of React and Redux, secondly useful strategies for learning a new skill.

React and Redux have been very much the buzzword de jour of front-end development, but they do offer some real benefits over a traditional MVC approach. I shall give a intro to these and why you might want to use them in your next project.

However, learning new things is hard, particularly when you are new to development. Having career transitioned in to development from education, I am particularly interested in how we learn. I would like to share with you an approach to learning that I have found useful, as well as some useful resources for learning react and redux.

Hopefully whether you are new or experienced, you will be able to learn little about either React & Redux, or how to support junior developers as they learn."

If you have anything you'd like to demo, let us know (please no sales pitches for products).

The main talk starts at around 7:15, but most people show up from 6:45 for pizza and to network and talk about all things JavaScript before the talk. After the talk we’ll be heading over to Headrow House to have a drink and to chat some more.

The door to get in is shown here:

Please note the group is intended for people looking to expand their knowledge. While recruiters are welcome to come and learn, we operate a strict no recruitment policy.
