Leftist-Progressive Evening Hike

Details
Join old friends, new friends, and neighbors for a laid‑back, sunset ramble through Bergen County’s green jewel, Saddle River County Park. We’ll gather at Dunkerhook Area playground pavilion, then set out together at an easy, conversational pace.
Why this park?
- Scenic, accessible path: A smooth, paved multi‑use trail hugs the Saddle River for nearly six miles, linking ponds, wildflower meadows, and hardwood forest groves. It’s flat, stroller‑ and wheelchair‑friendly, and perfect for an evening stroll.
- Nature + solidarity: Expect dusk‑lit footbridges, the soothing rush of the river, and maybe a heron in the wetland shallows—all while chatting with like-minded people.
- Easy logistics: Free parking, rest‑rooms at several nodes, and multiple bus stops within a short walk make it simple to join.
What to bring
- Comfortable walking shoes (we’ll cover 2–3 relaxed miles before sunset)
- Water, a light snack, and insect repellent
- Flags, shirts, hats, or anything else to express your left‑progressive pride
- A small flashlight or headlamp for the twilight return
Directions to the Saddle River County Park- Dunkerhook Area :
Turn onto Dunkerhook Road and you will then come across a sign that says Saddle River County Park. You will turn into the park there. There is parking near the playground. We will meet at the Pavilion next to the playground.
We leave the pavilion to walk at 7:00 pm sharp!
(Optional) Drinks/Dinner at Miller's Ale House After the Hike
Afterwards, those who want to can join the group for drinks and/or dinner at Miller's Ale House in Paramus, NJ. They have lots of good food and drinks available! We can get to know each other better and lament about the end of the world with good company, full stomachs, and light hearts.
