Philadelphia Social Justice Hackathon

The Philadelphia Social Justice Hackathon will be held at Drexel University's Thomas Kline School of Law from April 05 - 07, 2024.

Students, technologists, and other “civic-minded solution hackers” will come together with justice advocates, public servants, community legal service providers, and members of the #Philly community to work on solutions to respond to specific justice needs of residents and neighborhoods most impacted by social, economic, and environmental injustices in Philadelphia.
The event is free to attend and open to all participants, regardless of coding experience or affiliation with an organization or university.
Agenda
Day 1
- Opening Reception & Refreshments
- Keynote
- Hackathon Project Challenges by inspiring community organization speakers and Participants' Pitches - participants may work on their own ideas, or solve challenges provided by our community partners. For inspiration see the SJHPHL 2022 Project Gallery!
- Team formation and registration
Day 2 - Design, Development and Problem-Solving
- Design Thinking and tech platforms for participants
- Solution design and development
- Access to experienced mentors and subject matter experts
- Refreshments provided throughout the event.
Day 3 - Demo Day!
- Submissions and Demo preparations
- Final presentations before an esteemed panel of community judges.
- Awards - winning teams receive small awards and where possible, connects to organizational support and key partners to further develop, validate and implement solutions.
