The Justice Hack is B.C.’s largest access-to-justice hackathon. We bring together technologists, designers, policy people, community orgs, and legal professionals to ship usable prototypes that make legal processes easier, fairer, and more human. Founded by a Vancouver Legal Hackers co-founder, Brandon Hastings, traditionally this event has been published as an event of Vancouver Legal Hackers.
You’ll work in small, multidisciplinary teams (we run a friendly team-formation session), get mentor support, and present a short demo on Sunday. Ahead of the weekend, you’ll receive a Participant Info Pack (problem space, judging criteria, logistics). We provide space, food, mentors, and structure—you bring curiosity and a laptop. Expect a few simple rules (be respectful; no plagiarism; sign standard waivers).
### Judging & outcomes
Judging is impact-first: practical solutions that help the greatest number of people, with a usable prototype and clear problem fit (bonus for smart data/learning hooks). A detailed rubric appears in your Participant Pack.
