What we’re about
Remember the joy of show and tell? After Christmas we'd bring in a favourite toy from under the tree. Some of us would go far beyond telling and showing; we'd situate the toy in a context of a background story world of our imaginations drawn from our play sessions with it.
Now imagine the joy of showing of one of your MOCs (my own creations) with other AFOLs (adult fans of Lego) to share the story of its creation, the challenges you overcame in design, and any fictional or imaginative tropes or contexts that belong with or situate your creation?
If you're like me, your MOCs embody some such story world or imaginative context. A Lego warrior belongs to a primitive world of sword and sorcery; a robot designed for mining asteroids is adapted for space warfare; a castle inhabited by a spectral knight awakens to walk on haunted stone limbs to menace the countryside.
This new community is not like ToroLug, which meets to build together. Instead, we'll meet to show and tell about our creations. We'll gather on the first Sunday of the month for two hours of show and tell and an optional hour of socializing. We'll each take 10 to 15 minutes to show off and describe our MOC creation in a supportive environment of fellow creatives.
There will be time for 6-10 people to show off their MOCs and spin us a tale of the creation and fantasy or real-world situation of the built. Maybe you'll design a custom hot rod with realistic features, or a winsome cottage by the lake!
In this fellowship:
- Show off an tell us about your MOC and real-world or fictional background for it for 10 to 15 minutes!
- See 6 to 10 cool new MOCs from fellow builders with unique building styles!
- Best of all, meet new fun people, and inspire, appreciate, and make friends!
