Fall Ridge Walk - Ute to Ptarmigan Peaks

Details

Autumn in Summit County? Yes please! Let's do a nice looong (20 mile) point to point ridge walk from Ute Pass to Ute Peak, then on to Ptarmigan Peak, and down into Silverthorne. We'll be in some pines and changing aspens at the start and finish, and above it all for hours in between. And with generally more reliable weather in the Fall, this is the perfect day for this hike.

We'll meet at Wooly and take enough cars to set up the shuttle, depending on how many people we have. In Silverthorne, we'll leave a car or two at the Angler Trailhead and then ride together to the Ute Pass Trailhead about 20 minutes further north off of Hwy 9.

It's a steep climb up to 12,274 Ute Peak, but the views of the Gores should get really nice really quickly. Once we're up, There isn't a lot of dramatic elevation change along established trail all the way to Ptarmigan's 12,497 summit. Then it's a steep path down to our cars.
