Bird Walk at Franko Farm Recreation Area
Details
We will walk the woods and brushy fields of this Salisbury Township Park at the base of South Mountain to see what birds are lurking in mid-November. Raptors, Pileated Woodpecker, bluebirds, and sparrows are among the possibilities.
The initial part of the trip will be at an open grassy area adjacent to the parking lot that has trees and shrubs, a small pond with cattails, and a sizable vegetable garden. This area is sometimes quite active with birds. It is flat and there are several seating areas available. Anyone with limited mobility who would like to join the trip may choose to bird this area with us and then remain there for more birdwatching or leave when we head into the woods.
Meet at the parking lot near the ballfields. (If you are approaching from Honeysuckle Road, this will be the second parking lot.)
