What we’re about
Welcome to the Lehigh Valley Cycling Club's Meetup Calendar. Here we list our cycling events, and some non-cycling fun as well. Our recreational, social rides are available at various paces and will take you mostly around the counties of Lehigh and Berks. We are blessed to experience the beauty that makes up this part of Pennsylvania.
While we are happy to see so many take an interest in our Ride Calendar, following here does not grant LVCC membership. We would be thrilled to have you all become dues paying LVCC members! Here are some of the benefits:
* We offer a full schedule of road and off-road rides for all levels.
* Insurance coverage for uncovered expenses if involved in a LVCC ride incident
* Grill 'n' Chill rides during the riding season and Annual Picnic
* Annual Holiday Party
* Overnight/weekend cycling trips
* Last but not least, LVCC is host to the now-famous Donut Derby!
Please see our website lvcycling.club for more information and contact info.
Keep up to date with our "Latest News" LVCC blog, linked from the main menu on the site.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Saturday Ride to Longacres Dairy - Two Forgedales RouteBob Rodale Cycling & Fitness Park, Breinigsville, PA
I will lead this ride per this route, which I think was created by our friend Bill Derby: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/6335719
Check post at 8:00 before you leave for the ride in case of any changes.
Anne and I will be on our tandem and I expect to ride this 46 mi, 2200 ft. elevation moderately hilly route around 14-15 MPH. Make sure this is a good distance/elevation and pace for you per the LVCC Ride Classifications.pdf (lvcycling.club)
You are welcome to ride at different pace or post a companion ride and depending on attendance, several groups are likely to develop at varying speeds.
We will stop at http://www.longacresdairy.com/LMD_About_Us.html for ice cream break.
Everyone should have the route they plan to ride on phone or Bike GPS and if you need a paper copy Cue Sheet of the route above, text me and we can discuss how I can send you a PDF file. In case of any issues, my cell number is 610.417.4129.
Everyone must wear a helmet and individually sign the LVCC Waiver Release, which I will have with me, to ride with us. Joining Meetup and responding to this event is not a substitute for signing the waiver and if you ride more than 1 time on my rides, you should formally join LVCC before riding again. If you are new to LVCC group rides, you should read this: Guide to Group Riding.pdf (lvcycling.club)
- ***NEW ROUTE/ PACE! Valley Preferred Cycling Center Saturday Ride***Bob Rodale Cycling & Fitness Park, Breinigsville, PA
It's a new route and pace, so please read carefully.
See/ post to comments for updates!
The route: Velodrome - Lehigh Parkway Loop .
Pace- ±B and terrain is rolling with several short punchy climbs.
Wet roads will typically cancel (will endeavor to post weather conditions in comments each week). Recommend arriving either ready to go or ~15 minutes early. Please have your equipment in good working order, sign in, etc... Please arrive sufficiently early to attend mandatory riders' meeting ready to ride at 9:55. Ride will roll out promptly at 10:00.
Optional rest stops at Parkway Water/ Bathroom and Ringer's Roost (they've got a new menu).
Route is fully paved, but there are some narrow/ rough road surfaces. When in doubt, ride single file and the lines will generally be nice and smooth. Safety is always above all else on my rides.
Again, this is a ±B paced ride. Please have the capability to ride this pace and/ or have the route loaded (to ride at whatever pace you want). There are lots of places to regroup. Other suggestions include having the route programmed in your GPS, bringing food/ hydration, and having a family LVCC membership (here's a convenient link- https://www.lvcycling.club/index.php/join) !
I hope to see you there.
***If you're also an event organizer, please leave a comment if you'd like to co-host. Since I likely won't be at every single one of these, and it's a repeating event, this would help. Plus, this way people can split into differently paced groups all with separate ride leads as well.
