LVCC Weekend in Gettysburg, PA

The weather forecast looks good for next weekend in Gettysburg.

Here are a few updates:

Some of us will be in Gettysburg on Thursday.

We will gather each day around 5:00 in the Lobby of the Comfort Suites for a Happy Hour when we will plan dinners. If you want to have dinner with others, join us for the Happy Hour and you can bring drinks or light snacks to share if you want to do so.

You can ride any route at any time you want. We will not have cue sheets so use the routes in the RWGPS collection noted below. If you need a cue sheet and cannot print one yourself, let me know.

If you want to ride with others on Friday, I suggest that you be at the Comfort Suites at 10 AM for a 10:30 departure on the Battlefield route. I plan to wait for Anne to arrive and ride with her at 10:30, but others may make other plans.

We will also be planning start times on Saturday and Sunday at the Happy Hour or at dinner based on who attends. I know some members are thinking about driving to Gettysburg on Saturday, but we need to know your plans.

If you are driving to Gettysburg on Saturday, I suggest that you leave in time for 9:30 start. It is a 2-hour ride from Trexlertown. If you plan to drive down on Saturday, keep me informed of your arrival time.

In June, LVCC’s tandem teams (Sheffield and Ferrera) attended the Eastern Tandem Rally (ETR) in Gettysburg, PA.

It was a great place to cycle including through [Gettysburg National Military Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)](https://www.nps.gov/gett/index.htm) and we are planning a similar weekend in Gettysburg for LVCC members for Oct 4, 5, and 6.

We will use the ETR routes to create rides for this weekend that will include:

The first 20 miles of the 36-mile Friday route is through the Gettysburg Battlefield.
You can ride through without stopping, but I know that some attendees want to learn about the battle and if you want to do so, see note about downloading the NPS app and you can make stops and learn as you want. Download the NPS app and use Gettysburg National Military Park section to listen to numbered audio explanations at key battle points along the route.

Saturday rides – 2 options that include routes from 40 to 60 miles
Sunday rides - 2 options that include routes from 30 to 40 miles

Remote starts are possible for those who may want shorter rides.

Baymont is only a mile or so away from the Comfort Suites where we will organize start of rides.

Gettysburg is about 2-hour drive from Trexlertown, so driving down to make one of the rides and returning back to the Leigh Valley in the same day may be an option for some.

In order to attend this weekend, or any of the daily rides, you need to be a paid-up member of LVCC and all LVCC ride rules will apply.
