Join us for our monthly meeting. This month we are joined by veteran and author Richie Monteleone.

A draft notice on July 4, 1966, changed everything for Richie. Just 19 years old and fresh out of high school, he had never even heard of Vietnam. Six months later, he was navigating its jungles, not only fighting but also fixing weapons in the heat of combat. In 1967, Richie was in CuChi, with the 4th of the 23rd Unit, of the 25th Infantry Division, Company C, Tomahawks. When he came home, he married, worked hard and raised a family - all the while living with the effects of his Vietnam experiences. He struggled with PTSD for many years before understanding what was happening. After a few years of working with these issues on his own, he began helping other veterans deal with their memories of combat and PTSD. In 2021, his co-author Sandy and he began working on his book - that tells the story of Vietnam’s impact on those who served.

Richie will discuss his experiences and the work he does helping veterans that are described in his book Less that a Hero.

Richie's book will be available for purchase. The cost is $20 (cash or check only). He donates a portion of the profits from the sale to help homeless veterans through Tunnel to Towers and Wounded Warriors.
