Cinema - The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford
Details
I've not scheduled a Meetup film for a while, but this one took my fancy.
It is a dark comedy that explores the conflict between history and fantasy; and also captures the struggle of Identity and aging of people in a world that keeps moving on
Meet in the cafe area between 11:45 and 12:00 for a chat before the film. And we can have a drink and chat afterwards in the cafe to discuss the film and other interesting things (optional)
Synopsis:
Kenneth (Mullan) works as a tour guide dressing up as the townβs most notable historical figure, Sir Douglas Weatherford, whom he proudly claims as his ancestor. When the village becomes the base of a big-budget fantasy TV show, Kenneth's obsession with the series' star fuels a tragic downward spiral as the production disregard their proud historic traditions. This dark, bittersweet comedy explores the blurring lines between history, fantasy, and identity, anchored by an unforgettably warm, tender, and witty performance from Peter Mullan (I Swear).
