AUDITIONS FOR A NEW PLAY AT ENGLISH THEATRE LEIPZIG
Full audition details, plus two additional new plays in need of actors, may be found HERE
Something Wicked
(a metaplay)
Double, double toil and trouble,
fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Ingredients
Take the three witches of Macbeth, put them in their own West End play with a famous womanizing director, add a hint of techno, several tabs of MDMA, a twist of postmodernism, a sprinkling of dark comedy and a generous serving of deception.
Stir.
Presentation Tips
Serve with a Shakespearean and contemporary tongue.
As always, revenge is a dish best served cold.
AUDITION DETAILS
EMILY (witch 1 / actress), 20s. A starlet both striking and strident. Her boldness masks a deeper sensitivity. Macauley's lover and ex-student. We see her both in rehearsal and off.
FELICITY (witch 2 / actress), 20s. Delicate & soulful. Macauley's step-daughter. We see her both in rehearsal and off.
ALEX (witch 3 / actor), 20s. Male / female / non-binary. Androgynous, a natural inhabitant of the Berlin club scene. Still waters run deep. We see them both in rehearsal and off. They are having a secret affair with Macauley.
BILLIE (theatre technician). Any age or gender. An awkward introvert. A skulking but insistent shadow. We hear their voice (from the back of the auditorium) more than we see them.
MACAULEY (director / Macbeth). 50ish. Commands the stage, both professionally & physically. A benevolent but deceitful force, occasionally tortured by his own conscience. An actor in his own right.
