Let’s go bird watching at Wood Lake and share what we know about birds.
Known as the “marsh in the middle of the city”, Wood Lake Nature Center is a haven for migrating birds and waterfowl and offers excellent birdwatching opportunities.
We’ll mainly be birdwatching along the boardwalk and the gravel trails surrounding the wetland.
BRING YOUR BINOCULARS!
Birds awaiting us (maybe): Canada Goose, Mallard, Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, Double Crested Cormorant, Green Heron, Trumpeter Swan, Wood Duck, Belted Kingfisher, Northern Flicker, Blue Jay, American Robin, Black-Capped Chickadee, Warblers and last but not least 1 Painted Turtle and 2 Snapping Turtles.
This walk will be led by Gundula. She will be wearing a rainbow colored bandana around her neck.
Where to meet: our group will meet at the Lyndale Access Gate on Lyndale Avenue S (see picture below) across from a soccer field.
Parking: free neighborhood parking on W 70th Street or nearby streets.
Please be on time.
For our outdoor events, no pets unless the event leader writes they are welcome in the posting.
Keep an eye on this posting as the date or time may change due to weather conditions. All our meetups have a minimum of 5 in order to run.
