Join us for a sapphic book club at the Pierre Bottineau Library in northeast Minneapolis.
We will discuss „Taiwan Travelogue” by Yáng Shuāng-zǐ.

Taiwan Travelogue by Yáng Shuāng-zǐ and translated by Lin King is a clever, multilayered historical novel set in 1938 colonial Taiwan. It follows a visiting Japanese novelist on a lecture tour who travels the island alongside her meticulous Taiwanese interpreter. Bonded through a shared exploration of local culinary dishes, the two women navigate a complex and tense relationship shaped by the heavy shadows of imperialism and social inequality. This award-winning novel is a rich, thought-provoking discussion on power, identity, and the meaning of cultural authenticity.
