About us

Try Anyway is a community for London university students who want to feel freer around others.

We run small, guided events designed to help people understand the patterns that can make social situations difficult, practise doing things that feel uncomfortable in a supportive setting, and feel freer through real-life experience.
We’re starting with fear of judgement and social anxiety, and will shape future events around what members find most useful.

You should join if
You’re a university student based in London and you sometimes overthink social situations, worry about how you’ll come across, avoid speaking up, or find yourself holding back more than you’d like.
You don’t need to think of yourself as especially anxious, or put a label on it. If some version of this feels familiar and you’d like to experiment with doing things differently, you’ll probably feel at home here.

What does it cost?
There’s no cost to join the community. Some events will be free and others may have a small charge, which we’ll always make clear upfront.

Who’s behind it?
Try Anyway was started by Mandana Ahmadi and Bertie Hubbard.

Mandana is a computational neuroscientist and previously founded Alena, which developed and clinically tested interventions for social anxiety.

Bertie founded MyTutor, which became the UK’s largest online tutoring platform.
Try Anyway is an independent project.
